Eureka’s 4th Annual Day of Research
Join us for a day dedicated to Masonic education.
Featuring presentations and discussions from:
Florida Lodge of Research, Florida Chapter of Research, Florida Priory of Research, and Scottish Rite
Whether you’re presenting or attending, you are welcome to connect with Brothers across jurisdictions who are passionate about the Craft and Masonic Education.

Lodge attire is required. All presenters and attendees should dress appropriately.

The event is open to all Master Masons in good standing. Please have your current dues card available at check-in. The Florida Lodge of Research is open to all Master Masons, while the sessions of the Florida Chapter and Florida Priory of Research are tyled and limited to members of those respective bodies.

Yes. The event will be conducted in a tiled Lodge setting. Only qualified Brethren will be admitted.

A: E³ is our monthly Blue Lodge education night, open to all degrees and focused on Craft Masonry. The Day of Research is a special annual event featuring statewide research bodies, including the Florida Lodge of Research, the Florida Chapter of Research, and the Florida Priory of Research, which are part of the York Rite system. We’ll also feature Scottish Rite–related presentations in the morning. It’s a unique, full-day gathering for deeper Masonic scholarship across appendant bodies.

Yes. Any Master Mason may submit a paper or topic proposal. If selected, you’ll be given a time slot during the event to present.

Send your paper or proposal to education@ens269.org. Submissions are reviewed by the event committee for approval and scheduling.

The Day of Research is free to attend and proudly hosted by Eureka-North Shore. Donations to support Masonic education are always appreciated. However, there will be a Table Lodge following the event that includes a catered meal — the cost to attend the Table Lodge is $20 per person.
Note: This special event is separate from our regular E³ (Education & Enlightenment Evenings), which focus on Blue Lodge education and are held on Third Thursdays at Eureka.

Eureka-North Shore is proud to welcome Brother John S. Nagy, 32°, back for another special E³: Education and Enlightenment Evening.
Brother Nagy is the author of the widely respected Building Better Builders series and numerous other works on Masonic education.
He has presented throughout the United States and Canada at Blue Lodges, Grand Lodge sessions, Research Lodges, Scottish Rite Valleys, leadership conferences, and more.
His materials have been Grand Lodge authorized for supplemental Masonic education and are used to instruct candidates across multiple Masonic bodies.

The “Free” in Freemason
What did the word “free” originally mean when it was first applied to the Crafts of Europe?
This presentation examines the historical meaning of the term and what it reveals about expressions such as Free and Accepted, Freestone, and Free Born. Coach Nagy will trace the word's development and explain why its original meaning still matters to our understanding of Freemasonry today.
During Lodge — Tyled Lodge; EA and Above
The “Perfect” Quest
Following dinner, the Lodge will be tyled for a deeper examination of the word “perfect” and its role in Masonic symbolism and ritual.
Coach Nagy will explore the history of the Perfect Ashlar, its introduction into Blue Lodge Masonry, what it replaced, and what it was originally intended to represent. He will also examine how the meaning of “perfect” shifted over nearly 500 years and how that change affects our understanding of the Perfect Ashlar, the Perfect Points of Entrance, and other familiar ritual terms.
This is detailed Masonic education designed to make Brothers reconsider words and symbols they may have heard for years without fully examining.
All Lodges are encouraged to attend and send their Entered Apprentices and Fellow Crafts.
Master Masons will find just as much value in revisiting these foundational ideas with a fresh perspective.

Eureka–North Shore continues its E³ series with a focused presentation by Worshipful Brother Daniel Molina, exploring a name many recognize, but few fully understand…
W∴ Daniel Molina is a Past Master of Hibiscus Lodge No. 275, having served in 2020 and 2021.
He is a respected Masonic lecturer who has presented both nationally and internationally on Freemasonry and related subjects.
W∴ Molina is also a published writer on Masonic topics, with contributions to the Southern California Research Lodge’s Fraternal Review, and remains active in several appendant and affiliated Masonic bodies.
Open Session: Waite, he was a Mason?
Brother Arthur Edward Waite is widely known as the co-creator of the Rider-Waite Tarot deck, one of the most influential symbolic systems in modern esotericism. Yet beyond the imagery and mystique lies a deeper story … one rooted in tradition, symbolism, and a connection to Freemasonry that is often overlooked.
In this presentation, W:. Molina will examine Waite’s life, his intellectual and philosophical influences, and the extent of his Masonic involvement. The talk will also touch on the symbolic language in his work and how it aligns with, contrasts with, or diverges from Masonic frameworks of thought.
As with all E³ evenings, the goal is simple: to challenge assumptions, deepen understanding, and encourage thoughtful reflection among our Craft.
If your Lodge is dark that evening, you are encouraged to attend.

Yes. The Installation of Officers is one of the few Masonic ceremonies open to family, friends, and the general public. All guests are welcome.

Business attire or semi-formal clothing is requested for all attendees to maintain the dignity of the ceremony.

No. There is no admission fee. Dinner will be provided after the ceremony, and details will be announced soon.

Absolutely. This is a family-friendly event, and children are welcome to join and observe the ceremony.

Doors open at 3:00 PM with light refreshments. The ceremony begins promptly at 4:00 PM, so we recommend arriving early to be seated comfortably.

Dinner will follow the ceremony, and we warmly welcome guests who wish to join us. However, seating is limited, so a separate RSVP will be required once dinner details are announced. Availability will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eureka is headed to our nation’s capital for our annual D.C. Weekend!
Our itinerary features visits to some of the most significant sites in American and Masonic history, opportunities to network with our Brothers in Washington, and memorable moments together as a Lodge family.
Highlights include attending Colonial Lodge’s Festive Board and continuing our tradition of laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery.
Whether it’s touring national landmarks, attending special events, or enjoying our beautiful capital city together, this is a trip that will strengthen our bonds and create lasting memories.
RSVP is requested so we can coordinate any necessary tour access. Once submitted, you’ll be added to our trip chat group to arrange travel details with the group.

The trip is open to Eureka-North Shore Lodge members, significant others, and invited guests. Some tours and events may have age or security restrictions.

October 30 – November 3, 2025. The main program begins Thursday, October 30, but some attendees choose to arrive earlier. Our group hotel rate applies for extra nights before or after the trip.

Our host hotel is the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, 1767 King St, Alexandria, VA 22314.
A special group rate is available for the trip dates and can be extended for early arrivals or late departures.

We recommend arriving Thursday morning, October 30, to allow time for hotel check-in and participation in the Thursday afternoon activity. Some Brothers will arrive Wednesday, October 29, and the group rate will still apply.

Each attendee is responsible for booking their own travel.
Nonstop flights are available throughout the day from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Washington National (DCA) on JetBlue, and from Miami (MIA) on American Airlines.
Early flights on Thursday are recommended.

Bring formal attire (suit/jacket and tie) for Masonic and formal events, and comfortable clothing for tours. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended, especially for Arlington National Cemetery. Check the weather forecast before packing.
